Joseph Paul Smialek, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on November 16, 2016. He retired from Leo Thieneman and Sons after working as a Trim Carpenter for 30 years. He enjoyed bowling, square dancing and Good Sams camping. He was also an avid Louisville Cardinals fan.
Joseph was born on January 31, 1933, Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Lillian Smialek. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Wolchik and Helen Dinges; brothers, Theodore Smialek and Stanley Smialek; and son-in-law Robert Carrico.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Marlene Smialek; children, Sons, Kris Smialek (Linda), Kurt Smialek; Daughters, Tami Smialek, Teri Carrico, Trudi Smialek, and Jodi Smialek (Angie); five granddaughters, Jaime Smialek, Jenna Brown (Jason), Ashley Thieneman (Chase), Katie Carrico and Kirsten Carrico.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville). His Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm following visitation.
