Joseph Troy "Bruiser" Remines, age 57, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on October 21, 2024. Troy was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and Papa Troy. He dedicated 29 years of service to Sysco Louisville, following a decade at Korfhage Landscaping. Troy also generously served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the South Dixie Fire Department. An enthusiastic supporter of the University of Kentucky, Troy cherished his football season tickets for many years. He had a deep appreciation for John Wayne movies, which inspired the names of his children. His loyal companions included his dog, Diva, and his granddog, Nala. As a baptized member of Prairie Village United Methodist Church, Troy held a strong faith in the Lord. He had a heart of gold and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Troy will be lovingly remembered for his infectious smile, engaging stories, and his unwavering commitment to family. Known for his resilience, many remarked that Troy was one tough SOB. He will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Born on June 13, 1967, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of Charlie and Leona (Gibson) Remines. He is preceded in death by his father, Charlie Fred Remines, and his father-in-law, Bob Sargent.
Troy is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Michelle Remines; their daughter, Katie (Matt) Gavin; son, Patrick Remines; mother, Leona Remines; granddaughters, Harper Gavin and Charlotte "Charlee" Gavin; siblings, Fred (Denise) Remines, Lisa (Mark) Duke, Brent (Pam) Remines, Kendall (Renee) Remines; nieces and nephews, Anthony, Andrew, Heidi, Krissy, Erika, Adam, Jake, Hayley, Heather, Joseph, McKenzie, Courtney, Shelbi, Nathan; mother-in-law, Anna Sargent; brother-in-law, Rob (Tina) Sargent; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Highway. The Funeral Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. A graveside service will follow on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
