Joseph Russell "Joe" Thomas Jr., age 75, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2016.
Joe graduated from Southern High School in 1958. He was an electrician by trade, and took pride in the many projects that he contributed to, around the Louisville area. He was a former business owner, union steward, and project manager. He retired from Ready Electric in 2004.
The world was Joe's playground. He loved spending time with family and friends, playing just about any sport or game. He was competitive, and could turn anything into a challenge or contest. He formed lasting relationships and created memories, while pitching for his softball team, playing golf at Persimmon Ridge, bowling in leagues (he once bowled a perfect game), or shooting pool with his brother, sons, and many friends at Diamond Pub & Billiards. He coached several youth baseball and basketball teams, assisted with softball teams and scouting events, and would teach the neighborhood children to play ball, ride bikes, and drive.
Joe was a devoted husband, a caring and involved father and grandfather, a loving big brother, wise uncle, and friend to many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph R. Thomas and Juanita Thomas.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Judy, their daughters, Kristie (Paul) Jordan and Amy (Jonathan) Fletcher, sons, Mike Thomas and Neal (Laura) Thomas, grandchildren, Madelyn, Cooper, Reece, Rachel, Amantha, Arwyn, Dylan, Clayton, and Greta, sister, Juanita (Ron) Campbell, and brother, John (Therese) Thomas.
