Joseph Austin "Joey" Nolder II, 52, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. He was a 1986 graduate of Sandusky High School, where his athletic ability earned him a scholarship to play football for the University of Louisville. Joey loved being out on the water fishing and also mowing the grass. He was a foodie at heart, enjoyed cooking, and going on long joy rides. Joey had a commanding presence, a welcoming personality, and a contagious bellowing laugh. He was always on the lookout for the "ones."
He was born on March 19, 1968, in Sandusky, Ohio, to the late Jerold and Jean (Lawhon) Nolder, whom he loved deeply. Joey is survived by his daughters, Savannah and Mallory Nolder; sisters, Denise McClure, Janine Nolder, Lisa Nolder, Teresa Ortolani, and Jerralina Shafrath (William); aunt, Patty Barone (Mario); Savannah's mother, Donna Parham (Jeff); Mallory's mother, Misty Hess; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Joey's wishes were to be cremated, and a reception of family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Additional services will be announced later this summer in Sandusky, Ohio, and Joey will be laid to rest with his parents at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Sandusky.
