Joseph F. Massey, 72, of Hardinsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020. He was a United States Navy veteran and retired from LG&E after 47 years of employment at the hydroelectric plant.

He was born on December 10, 1947, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, to the late Jewell and Anna (Balbach) Massey. Joe was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry, Billy, and Bob Massey.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Mary Jane (Morgan) Massey; children, Tonya Kruer (fiancé, Bobby Kushner), and Jason Massey (Michelle); sisters, Patricia Fischer and Jewel Lathrop; brothers, Michael, Tommy (Angel), and David (Becky) Massey; grandchildren, Morgan McElwain (Trevor), Matthew Kruer, and Allison, Lauren, and Katie Massey.

Cremation was chosen following Joe's wishes. A reception of family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his memorial service taking place at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Hosparus - the Community Hospice of Southern Indiana (502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, IN 47150).
