Joseph "Joe" Dawson, aged 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, left this world on Thursday, December 19, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family.

Born on July 31, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky, Joe’s legacy is etched in the hearts of those he cherished most. He is survived by his devoted fiancé, Sharon Perkins, and a vibrant constellation of children: Nick (Alice), Brian, Denis (Asher), Wendy N. (Joe) Brauer, and Dawn Michelle (Steven) Knight. The joy he brought to the world continues through his grandchildren—Indy, Penny, Brianna, Nicole, Amanda, Luke, John, Daniel Aiden, and Megan—along with six great-grandchildren who will forever remember their beloved grandpa. Joe also leaves behind his siblings, George (Lana) and Anna Dawson, along with a multitude of friends and family whose lives were touched by his gentle spirit.

Joe was not just a devoted husband and father; he was the embodiment of dedication and hard work. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was crafting beautiful pieces of woodworking or engaging in heartfelt conversations over his Ham Radio. His spirit soared as he gazed at the stars; a passionate enthusiast of space exploration, nights often found him peering through his telescope, marveling at the universe beyond.

In recent years, Joe's family blossomed with the addition of his fiancé, Sharon, her daughter Tammy Rogers, and Sharon's grandchildren, Adam (Arynn) and Alyssa (Jon), as well as her great grandson, James Douglas Moore. Each of them held a special place in Joe’s heart, enriching his life with laughter and love.

To honor the remarkable life of Joe Dawson, a celebration of his life will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 11th, at Newcomer Funeral Home (10304 Dixie Hwy). Following the service, all are invited to share cherished memories and stories from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, as the family gathers to reminisce and rejoice in Joe’s beautiful journey. The family kindly requests contributions be made in Joe's memory to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
