Joseph J. Greenwell Jr.

Joseph John Greenwell Jr., 68, of Fairdale, Kentucky, passed away on September 2, 2026. Born on May 26, 1958, in Louisville, Kentucky, Joseph was the cherished son of Joseph and Martha Greenwell. He is fondly remembered by his siblings, Martha Meagher, Thomas Greenwell, Danny (Susan) Greenwell, and Clinton "Nicky" Greenwell, alongside his nieces and nephews, Trina (J-Bo), Mandy (Paul), Tammy, Cindy, Jill, Pam (Eddie), Daniel, Dylan, Lesley (Shawn), Scotty (Carey), family, and friends.

Joseph lived a joyful life filled with passions that included playing BINGO, the lottery, and cheering on NASCAR—especially as a devoted Bill Elliott fan. His love for horse racing was expressed through his work as a groomer at Churchill Downs. A loyal UK sports enthusiast and a man with a heart of gold, he treasured the moments spent with family, particularly during the holidays.

He follows in passing his parents, Joseph John Greenwell Sr. and Martha Adeline Greenwell, as well as his siblings JoAnn Hart-Muncy and Gilbert Greenwell.

The family invites you to a visitation on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel. Burial will take place at Mt. Holly Cemetery in Fairdale, Kentucky.
