Joseph Henry Davidson, 92, passed away on May 2, 2019. He was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky, on March 25, 1927, the third son of John Robert and Oca Bailey (Burge) Davidson. The family relocated to Indiana soon after his birth.
He is survived by his son, Daniel Davidson; sister, Lillian Hartell; two grandchildren, Jaime and Tara Davidson; and two great-grandchildren, Miles and Jude Davidson. He also leaves behind his full time caregiver, Sister Agnes Wilhelm, and other special family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane; brothers, John Robert and Love Vincent Davidson; and sister, Oca Virginia Marsh.
Mr. Davidson was a World War II Navy veteran serving as a member of the Underwater Demolition Team (UDT). He worked at the Brown-Forman Distillery and B.F. Goodrich in Louisville. During retirement, he became an entrepreneur, lawnmower repairman, and sold a variety of objects acquired at auctions. He was a life member and former post commander of VFW Post 3281 in New Albany.
His visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. With military honors, he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Jane Christian Davidson, at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
