Jose Alejandro Ortega, age 22 of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022. He was born on March 20, 1999 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Friends & family know him as "Lito" and "Josie". Jose did not have an easy start in life. He was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, barley breathing. Fighting with the heart team he was brought back to life. Jose struggled as a kid with asthma, and was able to accomplish many things in his time. He was always willing to help with the greatest smile, and best sense of humor. Jose's aura was calm and could light up any room. Few of his many interests were soccer, boxing, music, reading, gaming, and architecture. Jose graduated from Ballard high school with the class of 2017. He aspired to travel, weld, create new forms technology, and start a family. Jose cherished personal connections, and related to others on a deeper level. A role model, who protected his siblings and shaped them to who they are today. He loved being surrounded by family & friends. Jose was naturally the life of any party.
Were proud of the person he was, and to have been apart of his journey. Jose will be missed and is loved by so many.
Jose leaves behind to cherish his memory, his siblings, Mario Ortega, David Ortega, Yesenia Ortega, Yessica Ortega, Yazmine Ortega, Isaiah Lara; his mother, Maria Gibson Lara (Roberto); his father, David Ortega; grandparents, Margaret Gonzalez and Curtis Gibson; uncles, Aaron Gibson, Alberto Cruz and Erik Ortega; aunts, Angelica Cruz, Juana Chavez, Jennifer Jones, Amber Cour, Fabiola Ortega, Katalina Lopez and Blanca Lara; his loving girlfriend, Kennedy Olivia Rae Dean; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be 1 to 6pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Jose's life will follow at 6pm.
