Jonathan Richard Chancey, 40, of Louisville, Kentucky, left this world on Thursday, January 29, 2026, bringing to a close a vibrant life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.
Born on March 3, 1985, in Houston, Texas, Jonathan was the beloved son of Richard Chancey and Kathleen Davidson. He was not just a son but a loving brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose heart was large enough to embrace everyone he met. Jonathan was deeply devoted to his faith and found beauty and strength in his relationship with God.
A man of many talents, Jonathan could fix just about anything. His hands were skilled, whether he was perfecting a project, enjoying the thrill of fishing, hunting, cooking or indulging in gambling games. Bowling and cheering on his favorite teams, the Kentucky Wildcats and the Dallas Cowboys, also filled his days with joy. But perhaps his greatest gift was his sense of humor; he had a natural ability to light up a room and bring smiles to the faces of those around him.
Jonathan's warmth lives on through his loving mother, Kathleen Davidson, and his father, Richard (Tammy) Chancey. He is also survived by his supportive brother, Kevin (Brenna) Davidson, his dear grandmother, Barbara O'Leary, and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Jonathan is preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, John O'Leary, and his grandparents, Otis and Nancy Chancey, as well as his step-father, Randy Davidson, and his cherished cousin, Samantha Cox.
The family invites all who knew and loved Jonathan to honor him during Visitation on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel. A heartfelt funeral mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, with burial at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Jonathan’s memory to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
