Jonathan Tanner Edward Barton

Jonathan Tanner Edward Barton, age 18 of Louisville KY, passed away on May 8, 2026. He was an amazing gift to his loving parents. His smile and spirit brightened every room he walked into. He will be unimaginably missed by all who knew him.

Jonathan attended Eastern High School and graduated early in December of 2025. He had recently begun an electrical apprenticeship at Wagner Electric and was excited for the future and all the opportunities life held ahead of him. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for riding dirt bikes and loved fishing. Jonathan will be remembered for the love he shared with others, his adventurous spirit, the special place he held in the hearts of those who knew him and his love for God.

Jonathan is survived by his loving mother, Joni Shephard; his father, Nathanial Barton; along side his brothers and sisters. Taylor, Tyler, Grace, Nathan, Sydney, Vyctoria, Jordan and Lindsey; his grandparents, Edward and Jennifer Shephard and Emmanuel Maddox; and many other friends and family members that supported him along the way.

Though his time here was far too short, Jonathan’s life left a lasting impact on everyone who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be from 12pm to 6pm on Sunday, May 17, 2026 and from 10am to 4pm on Monday, May 18th at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.  A celebration of Jonathan's life will be there at 4pm.
