Jon Wickens, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on May 3, 1969, in Buffalo, New York, Jon led a life rich with love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty to those he held dear.
Jon was a man who carried the room whenever he entered, his great sense of humor and vast wisdom blending seamlessly to create an indelible presence that touched the lives of everyone around him. Known for his steadfast devotion to family, Jon’s greatest joys were found in the moments he shared with them—whether celebrating holidays together, cheering at baseball games supporting the Cubs or Yankees, attending Notre Dame football games, loved cheering on the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bill's football teams, or enjoying lively Derby parties. These gatherings formed the tapestry of his life, woven with laughter, spirited conversations, and the comfort of kinship.
A lover of movies, home entertainment, and music, Jon’s interests reflected his appreciation for culture and storytelling. His home was often filled with the sounds and sights that enlivened his spirit and brought joy to his loved ones.
Among Jon’s proudest accomplishments was the profound role he embraced as a grandfather—a role in which he found immeasurable pride and happiness. He also celebrated sobriety as a personal victory, demonstrating strength and determination that inspired all who knew him.
Jon is survived by his son, Chris Wickens and his wife Hannah; his sister, Wendy Sperling and her husband Donny; his brother, Brian Wickens; his niece, Amanda Sperling; his nephew, Jacob Sperling; his nephew, Ocean Wickens; his nephew, Sean Wickens; and his granddaughter, Isabella Wickens. His loyal companion, Bella, a beloved dog, also remains part of his family’s fabric.
Jon is reunited with his beloved parents, Jon, and Ardis Wickens and his beloved grandson Liam Wickens.
Jon’s legacy is one marked by love, loyalty, and indomitable spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of his family and friends.
