Jon R. Griffin, age 52, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on August 4, 2025.
Jon was more than just a beloved son, brother, uncle, fur-dad, and friend; he was a beacon of kindness and a source of unwavering support for those around him. A graduate of DeSales High School, Class of 1990, Jon dedicated many years to his work as a machinist at Kellems and Coe Tool Corp. His skill set extended beyond his profession, as he was a true jack of all trades, including body work and as a car painter at Tim's Body Shop and showcasing his talents in upholstery and mechanics. Jon had a remarkable ability to find solutions to any challenge, always with a laid-back and easygoing demeanor that inspired those around him.
His passions encompassed the great outdoors, where he thrived in activities such as hunting, fishing, and gardening. He delighted in canning, grilling and smoking meat, and experimenting with recipes in the kitchen. In addition he cherished moments spent with his loyal fur-companion, Ralphie. Despite the medical challenges he faced throughout his life, Jon maintained a positive spirit and an enduring love for his friends and family.
Born on October 29, 1972, in Louisville, Kentucky, Jon was the son of Charles and Patricia (Lardner) Griffin. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles, whose presence Jon will forever carry in his heart.
Jon leaves behind a loving and devoted mother, Patricia Griffin; sisters Stacy (Daniel) Johnson, Maria (Troy) Hassman, and Gayle (Timothy) Chesser; nieces Megan (Hannah) Johnson, Elle Hassman, Paige (Matthew) Stanley; and nephew Griffin (Jill) Johnson. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members, friends, neighbors, and his hunting, fishing and riding buddies who will cherish his memory forever.
Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel. A memorial tribute in honor of Jon will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the same location.
