Johnny R. Ward Jr., born on July 10, 1969, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on September 3, 2025, in Frankfort, Kentucky. He was a dedicated electrical lineman for most of his life, a profession that mirrored his commitment to serving his community and ensuring the safety and reliability of electrical systems.
Johnny was a proud graduate of Tates Creek High School in Lexington, Kentucky, class of 1987. Throughout his life, he cultivated interests that included sports, fishing, working on various projects, and helping others. He found great joy in Bible studies, camping, and embracing the great outdoors. These hobbies not only provided him with personal fulfillment but also fostered many cherished memories with family and friends.
Above all, Johnny's greatest accomplishment was his family, which brought him immeasurable joy and happiness. He relished and cherished every moment spent with his children. The time they shared together was a source of pride and joy that filled his life with purpose and love.
Johnny is survived by his children, Hannah E. Ward, Johnny C. Ward, and Carissa J. Ward-and his beloved grandson, Adrion F. Ward; parents, Johnny R. Ward Sr. and Linda S. Ward; his sister, Paula D. (Randy) Yaden; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher R. Ward, and his grandparents, who found peace before him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. A private burial will take place at a later time at Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
Johnny R. Ward Jr. will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who loved him.
