Johnny Milton Hiatt, 68, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015. He was a United States Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 28. Johnny retired from Duke Energy after 40 years of service. He enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, hunting and fishing. The most important thing to Johnny was his family and being a proud papaw.
He was born on January 15, 1947 in Spring Lick, Kentucky to the late John William and Faustine (Pharris) Hiatt. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Patricia Hale, Clarence Burgin, Jr., and Linda Hamm.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 43 years, Beverly (Loheide) Hiatt; children, Krista Blankenbaker (Brent), John Christian Hiatt (Shannon); sisters, Shirley Smith (Sam), Donna Brock (William); sister-in-law, Sandy Burgin; and grandchildren, Braeden Blankenbaker, Baeleigh Blankenbaker, and John "Hunter" Hiatt.
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8 PM on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and after 11 AM on Thursday. His Funeral Service will take place at 1 PM Thursday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
