Johnnie M Williams

Johnnie M. Williams, 87, passed away on February 24, 2019. She was born on September 23, 1931 in Nashville, TN . Johnnie came to Louisville at an early age and attended St. Augustine for a brief period of time. She then returned to Nashville and attended Nashville Christian Institute where she graduated. Johnnie professed hope in Christ on April 16, 1947 under the pastorage of Bro. Oliver Thompson at Jefferson St. Church of Christ. She reunited her membership under Bro. William Bush of Louisville, KY and Jerome Garrison of Frankfort Avenue Church of Christ, which is now under Jesse Murrah, North Central Church of Christ. She was a retired employee of Bureau of Census, Jeffersonville, IN

She was united in Holy Matrimony to John Williams, Sr. to this union 4 children were born. She was preceded in death by her sons, John W. Williams, Jr. and Elston L. Williams; parents, Mose Lillard and Mary Brown and sister, Betty Smotherman.

Johnnie is survived by her children, Michael Williams and Narita Sutherland; grandchildren, Nicole, Dwight, Shavon, LaChonda, LaTasha, Michael D., Evette, Chontell and Contessa; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Kelley and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY from 9 am-11 am with a celebration of Johnnie's life beginning at 11 am.
