John M. Story

John M Story, 86, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021.

Born and raised in Louisville, John was the youngest of 4 brothers. He was an Army Veteran serving in
Germany as well as the Kentucky Reserves. He was a member of The International
Brotherhood of Boilermaker's Union Local #40 for 68 years, 22 years as a retiree. During the 43
years as a journeyman boilermaker, he served as President, Assistant Business manager and
as a union trustee, and was known amongst his peers as "The Legend". He enjoyed spending
time with family, enjoyed bowling and was a UK Wildcats basketball fan. He was a kind, soft
spoken man who loved telling stories and had a great sense of humor. He was preceded in
death by a son, Shannon P. Story, his parents Roscoe W. Story and Lue McGar Story; brothers
Norbit L. Story (Louisville), Carl Samuel Story (Louisville), Roscoe W. Story, Jr of (Gary, IN),
and nephews, Norbit Lawrence (Larry) Story and Carl Samuel (Sammy) Story both of Louisville.

John is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Phyllis Powell Story, originally from Corbin, KY;
a daughter Karen Story (Louisville); and granddaughter Kasey L. Story (Louisville). John is also
survived by nieces: Elaine Story Harrell, Kathy Story Lovell, Lisa Story, Patricia Story, nephew,
David Story all of Louisville, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Newcomer East Louisville, 235 Juneau Dr. Louisville, KY 40243

pm. Burial service is Monday, February 1, 2021 1:00 pm at Cave Hill Cemetery 701 Baxter Ave
