John Stephen Vandeveer

John Stephen "Rocketman" Vandeveer, 51, passed away on August 2, 2015. John was a proud Marine Corps veteran, devoted member of the Leathernecks MC, loving father, brother, and uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert "Bill" and Carol Vandeveer; brothers, Keith Vandeveer and Phillip Vandeveer and sister, Glenda Thomas.

He is survived by his son, Tyler Vandeveer (Maria); step-son, Christopher Zeller; step-daughter, Brittany Gatza; step-grandson, Hunter Zeller; siblings, Holly Sarmiento (Freddy), Rhonda Howard, Janet Moore (Scott) and Mitchell Vandeveer; sister-in-law, Diana Vandeveer; nieces and nephews, Mandy Crawford, Shawn Crawford, Jessica Fleischer, Jordan Moore, Travis Foster, Ali Edwards, Ali Moore, Phillip Vandeveer, Sydney Vandeveer and Emma Vandeveer; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 9, 2015, from 12pm-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). A celebration of John's life will be Monday, August 10, 2015, at 9am at Southeast Christian Church - SW Campus (8301 St. Andrew's Church Road). Burial in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery - Central (2501 N. Dixie Blvd, Fort Knox, KY) will follow services.
