Rev. John Crit Stacy, age 90, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. John was a proud US Army veteran and served his country during the Korean conflict. Later, he retired from General Electric and pastoring for over 35 years.
John was born on March 17, 1932, in Barbourville, Kentucky, to John and Effy (Creasy) Stacy. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his children, Darrel Stacy and Vanessa Stacy-Berlin; and siblings, Magdalene Smith, Norton Stacy, Marcella Stevens, and Annette Bowden.
John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Artie (Smith) Stacy; children, Donna Lewis and Norman Stacy (Delores); sisters, Ruth Brown and Joyce Smith; 7 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
John was an avid knife collector and Kentucky Wildcat fan. He also expected all his kids to be Cats fans, too! He loved to fish, although he had little time to do it. He was absolutely the patriarch of the family and loved them with all he had. Most of all, John was a Christian. He pastored for over 35 years of his life, organizing two churches in that time. His life's mission was to see people come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. His message to you today would be, "Get ready, get ready!"
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Grace Family Worship Church of God (1544 Plank Road, Jeffersonville) with a celebration of John's life taking place at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday after 9:00 a.m. with his funeral service taking place at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
