John Watson Slaughter

John Watson "Poppy" Slaughter, age 77 of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. John was the happiest person in the world and never met a stranger. He was a graduate of Ahrens High School where he also taught printing to many students. He worked in the printing/lithographing industry for over 50 years. John was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John is preceded in death by his siblings, Benny Slaughter, Bill Slaughter and Jane Barnes; and sister-in-law, Faye Slaughter.

John is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Kathy Jo Slaughter (lovingly known as Granny Jo); his children, Michael Kramer (Frankee), Kathy Weil (Ricardo) and Mark Slaughter; grandchildren, Taylor Tillman (Nick), Amber Slaughter, Krista Lewis (Steve), Dylan Slaughter, Kyle Slaughter and Allison Slaughter; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of John's life will follow at 5pm there.
