John Edward Shelton, Sr.

March 28, 1946 — October 25, 2018

John Edward Shelton, Sr., 72, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018. John was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Kosair Shriners, the Legion of Honor unit and was Past Master of Grand Lodge 862.

He was born on March 28, 1946 in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, to the late William E. & Dora L. (Wooden) Shelton. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Pepper; brothers, Dub & Henry Shelton; sister, Earl Shelton; and sister in-law, Dianna Shelton.

John is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Joyce Shelton and Raelyn, Bobby and Johnny Pepper, whom they raised; children, David Metcalf (Patricia), John Shelton Jr. (Christy), Charles Pepper and Jerry Pepper (Angel); siblings, Tater Shelton, Tooie Shelton and Freddie Shelton; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
