John Robert Schroeder, Sr.

April 16, 1939 — April 24, 2021

John Robert Schroeder, Sr., 82, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021. He was a former firefighter for the City of Louisville and retired from Lambert's Distributors, Inc. John was capable of building anything with his hands, enjoyed cooking and was quite the jokester. He loved his dog, Harper, and was fond of his pet cats.

He was born on April 16, 1939, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Robert and Martha (Caress) Schroeder. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Gaddis; and long-time companion, Geraldine Higdon.

John is survived by his sons, John Schroeder, Jr. (Angie) and Tommy Schroeder (Jenni); sister, Ginny Harvey; grandchildren, Erin Schroeder DMD, Alex Schroeder (Shelby), Tanner Schroeder, and Molly Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Ashton Schroeder-Anderson and Rosalyn Schroeder; many nieces, nephews; and his beloved neighbors, the Brown family.

All services will be held privately and John will be laid to rest at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana. Contributions in his memory may be made to the New Albany-Floyd County Animal Rescue League (215 W. Market Street, New Albany, IN 47150).
