John Joseph Ryan, known affectionately by many as Jack, passed away peacefully at his home on March 25, 2026. Born on April 13, 1962, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jack was a man who quietly cared deeply for those he considered friends and family, expressing his love most profoundly through acts of service and unwavering dedication.
For over four decades, Jack was a cornerstone of the local restaurant community, sharing his talents in the kitchen for countless patrons. His career was marked by his steadfast commitment which left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure to know him.
Jack’s deep-welled faith was a constant source of strength and comfort throughout his life. One of the fondest memories cherished by those close to him was the Christmas Eve church service, a time that reflected his spiritual devotion with family. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life such as tinkering on cars, watching old Western movies—including favorites like The Cowboys —and listening to music, all of which brought him peace and fulfillment.
He adored his grandchildren, finding pride and happiness in their lives as one of his proudest accomplishments alongside raising his two daughters. Jack’s quiet love and steady presence were pillars of support for his family, a legacy that will endure through them.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jane Ryan; his daughters Danielle (Trevor) Timmerberg and Colleen (Josh) Frederick; his son Shawn (Tiffany) Ryan; and his siblings Kelly Ryan, Jeanine Barrett, Michael Ryan, and Patricia Wilson, his grandchildren, Clark and Clara Frederick and Gwynnevere Timmerberg and a host of extended family. He was preceded in death by his beloved son David Christopher and his parents, John Ryan and Jeanne Ryan.
A visitation to honor and remember Jack will be held on April 1, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.
