John Hansen Priest, 60, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. He was born July 28, 1961, in Louisville, Kentucky. John was the fifth of seven children born to Matthew and Laura (Moorman) Priest.
John was, most importantly, a man of God. Standing for the principles taught in the Bible was his life's passion. He recognized that in God's eyes, life is sacred. He was writing a book voicing his fervent concern about the precious value of life. He recognized that a baby growing in the womb was in a place designed by God to be a safe haven for a developing child. He worked most diligently to complete his book with the goal of publication.
Quiet, thoughtful, and family oriented, are words that described John. He was very attentive to his mother during her life and all his siblings appreciated that quality about him. John spent 20 plus years driving a school bus for Jefferson County Schools, where he gave kind and gentle direction to his students that rode with him each day.
John was a movie enthusiast. His brother and cousins shared fond memories of going to movies and drive-ins from youth up. As an adult he loved taking his nephews to the theater. He enjoyed spending time with his family and some of the most cherished memories of John were those spent laughing and fellowshipping with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Priest, Sr., mother, Laura Jane Priest, and sister, Teresa Priest. John is survived by his loving family, siblings, Matthew Priest, Jr., Mark (Licia) Priest, Peter Priest, Marguerite (Mark) Mayfield, and Janie (George) Brown; aunt, Jerriline (James) Moorman. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy) with burial to follow at Louisville Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
