John S. Petrey, Sr.

John Stanley Petrey Sr., age 78, of Louisville, KY, went to heaven on December 20, 2019. He was born in Packard, Kentucky on May 12, 1941. He was married for 57 years to Sandra Williams Petrey. He was a member of Hurstbourne Baptist Church for 42 years, where he served as a deacon, a greeter, and in many other capacities. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Cats, Cards and Reds. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and Papaw. He retired from Monty's Plant Food, where he spent many years helping to build the business. He was a true servant who was willing to help anybody, anyplace, and anytime, especially his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and June Hummel Petrey,
and his brother Ralph Petrey.

John is survived by his wife, Sandra; and two sons John Jr. (Earlene) and Mike (Belinda); 4 granddaughters: Sarah, Kathryn, Lauren and Lizzi. He is also survived by sister Janie (Mickey); brothers, KD (Kathy), Carl (Maggie), Rodney, and Michael Homer; and special aunt Mary Hummel.

Visitation will be 10 am to 12 pm on Friday, December 27, 2019 at Hurstbourne Baptist Church 8800 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40222, with a celebration of John's life to follow at noon. Burial will be private.
