John E. Perkins, III

John E. Perkins III passed peacefully at home on March 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born June 25, 1957, John lived a life centered on the things that mattered most to him—family, friendship, and the outdoors. He was a devoted husband, proud father and Poppy, loyal friend, and someone who rarely missed an opportunity to enjoy a good day of hunting, fishing, sharing a drink and stories with friends, or cheering on his beloved Louisville Cardinals.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Perkins Jr. and Betsy Rivers Perkins.

John shared 50 wonderful years with his wife and beloved partner, Vicki Perkins. Together they built a life full of laughter, family gatherings, and countless memories.

He is survived by his children, Taylor (Lauren) Perkins of Versailles, Kentucky, and Kristin Perkins of Louisville, Kentucky. One of John’s greatest joys was being “Poppy” to his grandsons, Teddy and Jack Perkins, and grand-dogs, Maverick and Creed, who brought endless pride and smiles to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Schafer (Harold), sisters-in-law, Kathy Jones and Lynne Jones-Baxter, and numerous extended family members.

His family finds comfort knowing his spirit lives on in the places he loved most—outdoors, among friends, and surrounded by family.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
