John D. Payton, 67, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.

He was born on November 28, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky to Dewey and Mary (Perkins) Payton. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Vickie Sherrard.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Barbara Payton, son, Jacob Payton, daughter, Rebecca (Claude) Preston, son, Robert (Amanda) Lawrence, granddaughter, Shelby Preston, grandson, James Preston, sister, Diane (Don) McClure, brother, David (Kathy) Payton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 19, 2018 and 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Monday, August 20, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Gospel of the Kingdom Campground Memorial Cemetery in Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
