John William Parris

John William Parris, 85, of New Albany, Indiana, departed this life on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. He was a United States Navy veteran and retired from the City of New Albany after 18 years of service at the Street Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Robert Parris and Argolia (Barnes) Parris; and siblings, Dorothy Williams, Lovie Parris, Veril Norman, Robert Parris, Jr., and James Parris.

John is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Toran) Parris; daughter, Junell Sanders of Jacksonville, Florida; siblings, Jimmy Parris (Princess), Mary Jones, and Edith Walker, all of New Albany, and Billy Parris (Virginia) of Lexington, Kentucky; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 1:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany.

The family requests that masks be worn for anyone who plans to attend.
