John Davis Nicholson

John Davis Nicholson, 84, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018. He was a skilled welder and pipefitter who worked for several local unions in the area. John was the owner and operator of the Big Valley Auction Company and loved tinkering with many things.

He was born on March 3, 1934, in Gas City, Indiana, to the late Ernest Nicholson and Ethel (Moore) Nicholson. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy, James, and Gene Nicholson and Margie Goodlet.

John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Charlotte (Thomas) Nicholson; children, Tracey (Jeannie), Johnna, and Marcy Nicholson (Jerry Longest); grandchildren, Todd Nance, Jamie Smith, and Robert "Wayne" Nicholson; great-grandchildren, Laylee and Adalynn Nicholson; and siblings, Doris Heeke, Ellen Keeton, and Frank Nicholson.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
