John Robert Lozon, 60, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was a 1976 graduate of New Albany High School and went on to graduate from Purdue University-Indiana University Southeast where he was a founding member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. John was very proud to have become an Eagle Scout at the age of 13.
Always active in the community, John served as a parent coordinate for the Providence High School soccer teams, a long-time leader for Cub Scout Pack 30 and Boy Scout Troop 36, and was also instrumental with the expansion of the Purdue University campus in New Albany. John was selfless in every sense of the word and, above all, was a loving husband, father, and grandpa.
He was born on March 11, 1958, in Louisville, Kentucky. John was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores (Jacobi) Lozon Abbott; and grandson, Kenneth Lozon.
John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sheila (Klein) Lozon; children, Jonathan Lozon (Heather), Emily Lozon-Forster (Bill), and Katherine Lozon-McDermott (Matt); sister, Diana Abbott-Huber; grandchildren, John Forster, Patrick Lozon, and Oliver Forster; and parents-in-law, Virgil and Doris Klein.
Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Joe Hill Campus) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in John's memory be made to Norton Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (231 East Chestnut Street, Louisville, KY 40202) or to Our Lady of Providence High School (707 Providence Way, Clarksville, IN 47129).
