Bob Lewis, age 78, died November 30, 2021, at Baptist Health Louisville with his family at his side. He was born on June 16, 1943 in Hopkinsville, KY to the late John W. and Jestine Young Lewis.
Bob was a graduate of DuPont Manual High School and earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Louisville. At UofL, he was vice-president of his senior class, and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi where he served as president. He played intramural sports and served on the student senate. After graduation, Bob joined Standard Oil Company as a sales representative and later was employed by Pennwalt as a sales rep. He continued his career in the chemical business before his retirement in 2007. Softball was a favorite sport. Not only was Bob a member of "Bob's Boys", he was their coach and second baseman.
Being a lover of music, Bob often entertained his friends by playing the piano and singing — both in the rockabilly/rock and roll style of Jerry Lee Lewis. He was a proud member of Master's Men Choir made up of a group of dedicated, fun-loving individuals who sing for joy that includes hymns, spirituals, contemporary Christian music, plus classical, traditional, popular and patriotic selections.
Survivors include his two sons, John Robert Lewis, Jr. and William Scott Lewis, his former wife and family caregiver, Barbara Taylor Lewis Dinsmore, his grandchildren, Maddox and Alex Lewis, a niece, a nephew and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sara Lewis Young.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, with his funeral service following visitation at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY.
