John Gordon Kettler, 86, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Born on March 15, 1940, John lived a life marked by dedication to his work, devotion to his faith, and deep love for the people and interests that brought him joy. He retired from Defense Mapping and also built a career of more than 30 years as a realtor. Through those years of service and professional commitment, he was known as a man who invested himself fully in the work before him.

John was a member of Heartland Church of the Nazarene, where his faith was an important part of his life. He also had a passion for writing poetry, a gift that remained close to his heart and recently led to the publication of two books. In addition to his love of words, John was an animal lover, especially when it came to horses, which held a special place in his affection.

Above all, John will be remembered by the family he loved so dearly. He is survived by his wife, Trudy (Bird) Kettler. He also leaves behind his children, Michael Noon and his wife, Kimberly, and Jessica Elliott and her husband, Ian. His family circle also includes his son-in-law, Bret Young.

John’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Adam Young and his wife, Emily, McKenna Young, Collin Young, Corrie Young, Evan Elliott, Kellan Elliott, and Dylan Elliott. He was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Eleanor “Lenny Jo” Young. He is further survived by his brother, Ron Miles, and by his nieces, Janet Thompson and her husband, Garrison, and Debbie McQuiggan and her husband, Tom.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Kettler; his mother, Mildred (Romine) Kettler; and his daughter, Michelle Young.
