John Edward Kepley, Jr., 87, of Depauw, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017, surrounded by his family. He ran excavation equipment for many years and worked for the Ramsey Water Company. While working at the water company, he laid most of the area's waterlines and installed many septic tanks for families living in the county.
John and his wife Barbara bred and raced Harness Horses. Alongside one another, they spent countless hours working on the farm. After retirement, the horses were traded in for a new hobby, riding the highways on a Honda Goldwing motorcycle. Since 1989, John and Barbara have wintered in Tucson, Arizona, where they made many friends and enjoyed sightseeing.
He was born on November 22, 1929, in Milltown, Indiana, to the late John, Sr., and Loraine (Martin) Kepley. John was also preceded in death by his siblings, Virginia Williamson and Bob Kepley; and son-in-law, Tom Weathers.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Cox) Kepley; children, Debbie Weathers (Vernon Bolin) and Tim Kepley (Becky); niece, Melody Thorp (Dell); grandchildren, Michelle Weathers (Rob Jones), Matthew Weathers (Jessie), and Brian Kepley; and great-granddaughters, Casen and Lakota.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Unity Chapel United Methodist Church (1760 Lost Creek Road NW, Ramsey, Indiana 47166).
