John Carlos White, a beloved figure in the world of food and dining, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was 65 years old.
Born on April 10, 1960, in Pensacola, Florida, John was a devoted son, a loyal brother, a loving uncle, and an enduring friend. He touched countless lives with his adventurous spirit, honesty, and unmistakable good nature.
For more than two decades, John proudly served as the owner, editor, and publisher of Food & Dining Magazine. His work was not simply a career-it was the fulfillment of a passion rooted in his deep love for food, cooking, and the shared experience of dining. Through his vision and dedication, he created a platform that celebrated culinary artistry and brought people together over a shared appreciation of good food and great company. His pride in his work was evident to all who knew him and his impact on the local dining community will be long remembered.
John’s educational journey began at Clarksville High School where he developed the creativity and curiosity that would define his life. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy. His time in the Navy fostered his love of travel and adventure while instilling a sense of discipline-experiences he often recalled with fondness.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, John embraced life fully. He enjoyed watching football and college basketball, delighted in the pageantry and excitement of the Kentucky Derby, and treasured the camaraderie of a poker game with friends. Above all else, John treasured time with his family. Whether gathered around a holiday table or simply sharing a casual meal, he was happiest when everyone was together, plates were full, and the laughter was loud.
John is survived by his loving mother, Annette Belle White; his siblings, Lisa (Donald) Copple, Richard White, and Regina (Eric) Wolfe; his nieces and nephews, Paul (Mandy) Smith, Andrea (Ryan) Bergeron, Tara Smith, Lucas Wolfe, Devin Copple, and Dane Copple; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Henry and Charlotte Smith and Benjamin and Harrison Bergeron.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Carlos White; his grandmother, Rose Virginia Cole; and his sister, Angela Marie White -no doubt now reunited and sharing stories around a heavenly table.
Family, friends, and all who were touched by John’s warmth and generosity are invited to gather for visitation on February 24, 2026, from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
As we remember John Carlos White, we celebrate a life well lived-a man of deep curiosity, boundless enthusiasm, and profound love for his family and community. His adventurous spirit and compassionate heart will continue to inspire all those who knew him to savor life, cherish one another, and always make room at the table. His seat may now be empty, but his spirit will remain with us always.
