John Ray Cahill, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
He was born on August 2, 1936 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late John and Eleanor (Miller) Cahill. He is also preceded in death by his brother Michael Glen Cahill and sister Carol Ruth Vandeveer.
John proudly served in the United States Navy from March of 1954 until March of 1962, a member of the VFW Post 2921 and a Kentucky Colonel. He retired from Golden Foods/Golden Brands, LLC. as their Transportation Manager after many years of service. John was an avid swimmer, a member of the Naval Swim Team and a life guard at Fontaine Ferry Park.
John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Catherine Cahill, children; Shannon Herbst, Kelly Decker (David), Brian Cahill, sister-in-law Judy Cahill, 10 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243) with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
