John A. Bensing, Jr.

August 27, 1936 — June 4, 2021

John A. "Spank" Bensing, Jr., 84, of New Albany passed away peacefully on June 4, 2021, at Baptist Health Floyd. He graduated from New Albany High School and served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his fiancé, Joyce Morlen; brother, William Bensing (Marilyn), sisters, Mary Marguet and June Bensing Duchsherer (Vic); and numerous nieces and nephews. Spank was preceded in death by his brother, Charles "Boots", brother-in-law, Frank Marguet, and great-nephew, Morgan Julius.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Spank's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
