John Edward Alford Sr.

John Edward Alford Sr., 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020. John proudly served in the United States Army, and was a member of the American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars. John was an avid poker player with his children and friends. John enjoyed going to Churchill Downs, casino trips, and going out to eat.

He was born on October 24, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky to Virgil and Thelma (Davis) Alford. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Children: John Alford Jr., Steve Alford, Carl Alford, Michael Alford, Kim Alford-Keeling, and Jeff Alford, Step-Son John Stonecipher; Brothers Charlie Alford and Carl Alford, and Sister Shirley Ann Alford.

John is survived by his Son Danny (Jennifer) Alford, Son Timothy (Bonnie) Alford, Daughter Melissa Stonecipher, Companion Dorothy Stonecipher and Sister Joyce (Jimmy) Thomas. John also leaves behind to cherish his memory 18 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Extended Family.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel. Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 12:30 pm at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (Central) in Radcliff, Kentucky.
