Joel Angelo Williams

November 1, 1951 — May 7, 2019

Joel Angelo Williams, age 67 of Louisville, passed away Tuesday May 7, 2019. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, Joel moved with his family to Lexington, KY. He attended Lafayette High School from 1966-1969 where he played saxophone in the High School Marching Band and attended the University of Kentucky where he majored in cartography. In 1983, he founded the National Equine Exchange. His passion for the water and boating started in his youth on his family's first boat and led him to a lifelong career in the marine industry in Florida and Kentucky culminating as the General Manager of Sea Ray of Nicholasville in 2005. He had a humorous personality and did impersonations for various advertisements and comedy segments on local radio. In 2002 he met his wife, Julie, and eventually moved with her from Lexington to Louisville where he spent his remaining days with family and enjoying riding his Harley. Joel is preceded by his wife, Julie Williams; his mother, Dorothy Williams; his older brother, Charles ("Buck") Williams; and his father, Russell Williams.

Joel is survived by his son, Hunter Williams (Marina); daughter, Margo Weaver (Rich); step sons, Jason Lawrence (Ivo), Lucas Bramblett (Caroline), and Kevin Bramblett (Danielle); his grandchildren Zoey, Jackson and Zeff; step-grandchildren, Gabriel and Claire; and his brother Phil Williams.

Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243 (in Middletown) with the Memorial Service starting at 3:00 pm there. Upon services concluding, there will be a casual reception including food and beverages for family and friends hosted by his son and daughter in-law at their residence in Sellersburg, IN (address and directions will be provided at the memorial service).
