Joe Ann Lyons Gardner, 81, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019. Joe Ann was a very hardworking woman who held many roles and titles in her career. She sold real estate, was a Mary Kay consultant, and worked at Rale Credit Union in Louisville for many years. Joe Ann owned and operated Chicken Little Gift Shop next to Churchill Downs and worked as a secretary at the American Printing House for the Blind until her retirement. She loved to read and was very gifted at speed reading as she would sometimes complete multiple books in a day. Joe Ann was also very creative. She enjoyed painting and making doll houses in her free time.
She was born on June 25, 1938 in Logan County, Kentucky to the late Dennis Lyons and Eunice Underwood Hanka. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her late husbands, Allen McCoy and John Gardner; sisters, Gala Childs and Willodene Gould.
Joe Ann is survived by her children, Denise (Gary) Peak, Gary McCoy and Cindy Kehr; grandchildren, Marie (Chris) Zipp, Jon (Rian) Ludwig, Mychal Ludwig, Lauren (Martin) Lynch and Jeremy McCoy; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Monday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Pennsylvania Run Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
