JoAnn Mary Heckman, age 81 of LaGrange, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019. She retired from Merchants Cold Storage and Heckman Bros. Safe and Lock Company. JoAnn was born March 6, 1938 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Richard J. and Ernestine French Nordhoff. She was also preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Gerald D. Heckman, Sr., and brother, Robert Nordhoff.

JoAnn is survived by her son, Gerald David Heckman, Jr. (Valerie); and her daughter, Deborah Frermann (David); 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 pm Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky (in Middletown), with a celebration of JoAnn's life to follow at 4 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Down Syndrome of Louisville Adult Development Academy, 5001 South Hurstbourne Parkway, Louisville, Kentucky 40291.
