Joan Marlene Smialek, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on November 20, 2017, after a long illness of Alzheimers.
She retired from Humana after 30 years of service. Joan enjoyed, square dancing, crafting and needle work. Joan and Joe enjoyed their camping trips and spending time with their family, especially all their granddaughters.
Joan was born on June 21, 1937 in Olean, New York to the late Kenneth and Racheal Freeman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Paul Smialek; son-in-law, Robert Carrico; sister, Jeannette Dibble; and brother-in-law, Thomas Westfall.
Joan is survived by her children, Kris Smialek (Linda), Kurt Smialek, Tami Smialek, Teri Carrico, Trudi Jo Smialek and Jodi Smialek (Angie); granddaughters, Jamie Smialek, Jenna Brown (Jason), Ashley Thieneman (Chase), Katie Carrico, Kirsten Carrico; sisters, Priscilla Batchelor (Ralph) and Sally Westfall; and brother-in-law, Marty Dibble.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Chapel (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243), with a memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
