Joan U. Hammerbeck

Joan Uzzle Hammerbeck, 94, peacefully returned to her loving Heavenly Father on April 26, 2022. She was a member of Middletown United Methodist Church. She worked as the secretary for the district Superintendent of the UMC in Louisville for a number of years. She grew up in Lawrence Park (Erie), Pennsylvania and moved to Louisville in 1956.

Joan is predeceased by her husband, George E. Hammerbeck, Sr.; her daughter, Toni Ann Hammerbeck, and her sons, George E. Hammerbeck, Jr. and Carl William Hammerbeck.

She is survived by her sister, Marie Jerencsik of Columbus, OH; her daughter, Carol Hammerbeck, M.D.; son-in-law, John Schweizer; daughter-in-law, Barbie Hammerbeck of Daytona, FL; her grandchildren, Kathryn, Bella, & John Schweizer II, Marie Ivey, Ed Hammerbeck, Melanie Dolash, Ashley Hammerbeck, M.D., Amy Hammerbeck, & Melissa Hammerbeck, as well as several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville) with an additional hour of visitation on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 10:00AM with services to follow at 11:00AM. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park (4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218).
