Joan Fomison Goodfleisch, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 24, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on July 12, 1948, in Pensacola, Florida, Joan touched the lives of many with her hardworking, loving, and charismatic spirit.
Joan dedicated her professional life to the bowling community, serving as the treasurer and secretary for Pro Bowl III, Rose Bowl, and Kingpin Lanes. Her commitment to her work was evident, and she was revered for her diligence and dedication.
Joan possessed a vibrant personality that drew people to her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh; those who knew her will fondly recall the familiar warning when the “eyebrow” came up—a sign that she meant business, while making those around her laugh.
She expressed love for her children as she saw fit based on the situation presented. She'd be soft and gentle for a skinned knee. but if someone spoke too harshly for her liking about her kids, that same love showed itself with a fiery ferocity that made sure all that witnessed it would always recognize true loyalty whenever they saw it.
Joan was deeply spiritual and held a strong catholic faith. Her religious values shaped many aspects of her life. She embraced her family and friends wholeheartedly, always ready to go the extra mile for those she loved. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, a source of pride and fulfillment throughout her life.
In addition to her family and work, Joan enjoyed an array of hobbies. She was an avid reader with a particular fondness for true crime stories, and she cherished watching classic television shows and Lifetime movies. Bowling was her passion, bringing joy and a cherished bowling family whom she loved like her own.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Dawn Morrison (Michael); son, Allen Goodfleisch; and grandchildren, Julia Goodfleisch, John Michael Morrison, Parker Hoyer, Jacob Goodfleisch, Ella Morrison, and Joseph Goodfleisch. She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Baron Goodfleisch; parents, John Baron Fomison and Marion Lucille Fomison; and sister, Dale Fomison Petruchio.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects to Joan during the visitation scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243.
