Joan B. Niemeier

August 3, 1931 — February 17, 2016

Joan B. Niemeier-McDonough, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on February 17, 2016. She retired from University of Louisville. Joan was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and a volunteer member of the Outriders Society of Churchill Downs Derby Museum.

Joan was born on August 3, 1931, Louisville, Kentucky to the late Joseph and Florine Wedding. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Ray Niemeier.

Joan is survived by her husband of 10 years, Robert McDonough; children, Beverly Ray Kravitt, Cynthia Jo Niemeier-Crandall, Stephen D. Niemeier; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Monday, February 29, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243) with her Funeral Ceremony to begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery (701 Baxter Ave, Louisville, KY 40204).

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to The Cameron Kravitt Foundation, C/O Alfred Goldberg, Executive Director, 60 Colonial Road, Madison, CT 06443-1912. Checks should be made out to: The Cameron Kravitt Foundation.
