Listen to Obituary
JoAnn White, born May 14, 1945 to James Lee White and Elizabeth Jane Bradley, returned to her heavenly home on June 7, 2020 after a brief
illness. Her love for the Lord and faith in His promises provided support in her struggle and ultimately she found peace.

JoAnn was retired and a lifelong member of St. Paul AME Church, later renamed Ralph Avenue AME. She served in various roles including Sunday
School teacher and Superintendent, Trustee, Missionary, and Lay Person. It was in her position as YPD Director that she found her calling. For
many years she personally invested in the lives of young people, not hesitating to give sacrificially of her time and resources when she saw a
need. To her, each child had value and deserved the opportunity to succeed. Serving was a gift that God gave JoAnn. She loved her church and the
people as she faithfully served in any capacity that was needed up until her illness. God also gave JoAnn the gift of laughter and no matter where she was she always brought the gift with her. She made us laugh during tough times and not all her jokes could be told in church! As sweet as she was, JoAnn was a staunch UofL Cardinal Basketball fan and she didn't play when it came to her Cards! She enjoyed traveling to the games. At home she
watched the games with her eyes closed, but the next day she could tell you everything that happened during the game. Another gift God gave JoAnn was Crystal, her only child. She and Crystal were not just mother and daughter, but best friends. JoAnn loved and
treasured her daughter and it was evident to everyone who had the honor of knowing her.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Elizabeth Greenhill and brother, James Lee White Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Phillips (Michael); sister, Rose Anna White; grandchildren, Precious, Princess and Legend, and a host of
nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. So it is good-bye for now sister, mother, auntie, friend. You will be greatly
missed but never forgotten....until we meet again.
