Jimmy Wright, 57, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019.
He was born on February 2, 1962 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William and Grace (McDay) Wright.
At a young age, Jimmy attended Newburg Church of Christ were he professed his faith and accepted the Lord. As a young boy, Jimmy was involved in The Boy Scouts and serving the community. Jimmy attended Durrett High School where he joined the Army ROTC and was an outstanding football player. Upon graduation, Jimmy continued his football career at Kentucky State University. After college, Jimmy went on to serve his country by joining the Army National Guard.
Jimmy never met a stranger. He was friendly and outspoken. Jimmy will be best remembered for his laugh, smile, cooking skills, and being an avid UofL fan.
Jimmy is survived by his sons, Bradford Wright (Kayla), Jimmy Wright (Julia), siblings Antoinette M. Long-Boyd (Lacy), Elmore Stephens, William Vincent Wright, five grandchildren; Traevon, Keonna, Emma, Malik and Amelia. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend, Mirranda Allen.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Forest Tabernacle Baptist Church (4205 East Indian Trail Louisville, KY 40213) with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
