Jimmy R. Cann, 75, of Louisville, passed away on May 21, 2015.
Jimmy was born in Detroit on February 13, 1940, the son of the late Hardy and Hallie (Ruley) Cann. Jimmy graduated from Murray State University with a B.S. in Chemistry. He moved to Louisville after graduation and began his teaching career at Ahrens Trade High School. Jimmy received his Masters degree in Chemistry from Middle Tennessee State. He taught chemistry and coached girls basketball at Ahrens until it closed. Jimmy moved to Male High School after Ahrens closed in 1980. While at Male he coached softball and golf for many years before retiring in the early 1990s. Jimmy was an avid golfer throughout his life and enjoyed watching basketball, especially UK and UofL.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Jean Griggs. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sue Cann; children, Gina Erispaha (Jim) of Gilbert, AZ, Brion Cann (Cecile) of League City, TX; and three grandchildren, Grace Erispaha, Kayla Cann, and Ethan Cann.
Memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272).
