It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jewell "Sista" Jones, age 66, who left us on November 10, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Jewell was the embodiment of love and devotion — a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Her joy was palpable, radiating through every dish she lovingly prepared for her family and the laughter shared over countless games of spades. She had a zest for life that took her on many adventures as she traveled, always eager to explore new places and create lasting memories. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and Louisville Cardinals. As a dedicated member of the Kingdom Embassy of Kentucky, Jewell exemplified kindness and selflessness, always offering a helping hand to those in need. Her warmth touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her, and she will be profoundly missed by all.
Jewell was born on January 24, 1959, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Howard and Susie (Holmes) Ware. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Susie Mae Ware; her father, Howard Ware, Sr.; her sister Annie Taylor; her twin brother Jerry Ware; brothers Howard Ware, James R. Ware, and Amos Matthews; as well as her brother-in-law Brian Jones.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 27 years, Steve Jones, and her adoring sons — Alfonzo Ware, Daryl (late Diane) Ware, Joe Morris Ware — along with step-son Steven Barnett and daughter Lula Johnson. Jewell is also survived by her beloved sisters Susan (Welton) McBride, Geneva (James) Bullitt, Deborah Ware, and Chris (Alex IV) Simon; her brothers Frank Holmes, Charles (Lilly) Holmes, and Amont (Artesia) Owens; brother-in-law Kevin (Rochelle) Jones, as well as an aunt, Dorothy Carr. Her legacy continues through her sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and a multitude of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, with burial at Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
