Jesse Eugene Gilbert , 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Jesse was a 22 year veteran in the United States Army. He loved photography, computers, traveling, hunting, and fishing. He had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He loved to garden and always started and ended his day with a good cup of coffee.
He was born on December 10, 1943 in Only, Tennessee to Robert and Edna (Heathcoat) Gilbert. He is preceded in death by his Father, Robert Gilbert, Mother, Edna Gilbert, Brothers, William Gilbert, Jimmy Gilbert, and Carl Gilbert.
Jesse is survived by his loving Wife of 56 years, Irmgard Gilbert; Son, Michael (Kimberly) Gilbert; Grandchildren, Katie (Cole) Goodlett and Kyler (Cameron) Hack; Brother, John (Martha) Gilbert and Sister, Betty Capley, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish his memory.
The family requests that contributions in Jesse's memory be made to The Kentucky Humane Society.
