Jerry Francis Shirley, 83, life-long resident of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021. He was a 1957 graduate of New Albany High School, where he played on the basketball team. Jerry retired from the Indiana Highway Department of Transportation. He was an avid horse racing fan, enjoyed running coon dogs and deer hunting, and was a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church.
He was born on October 4, 1938, in New Albany to Curtis and Selene Shirley. Jerry was also preceded in death by his wife, Agnes (Jacobi) Shirley; and siblings, Jean Loftus, Elise Aemmer, and Ray and Kent Shirley.
Jerry is survived by his children, Dale Shirley (Kathryn) and Geri Shirley (Erick Farr); brothers, Rob Shirley (Joan) and Alvin Shirley (Sharon); sister-in-law, Martha Shirley; grandchildren, Curtis Shirley (Heather Hewitt) and Fox Farr; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs) with his funeral mass being celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
